What is Third Space Learning?

Third Space Learning provides unlimited one-to-one online maths tutoring for primary and secondary schools through Skye, our expert-trained AI maths tutor.

With busy classes, stretched workloads and limited budgets, it's often impossible to give personalised support to every student who needs it. Third Space Learning solves this with unlimited online maths tuition for one fixed annual cost – so every student in your school who needs support can learn with their own personal maths tutor.

Proven impact across 4,100+ schools since 2013

Since 2013, over 4,100 schools have chosen Third Space Learning's cost-effective one-to-one maths tutoring, giving teachers more time to focus on whole-class teaching. We've used all the insights gained from over 2 million tutoring sessions to create Skye – an AI maths tutor trained specifically on effective tutoring practices.

"After the first of our academies used Third Space Learning, word got out that the online maths tuition was having a positive impact and we obviously wanted a piece of the action as well! The personalisation is second to none. Each school has done the data analysis and made the decision that this extra support is something they want to continue with."

Kate Davies, Maths Director, Outwood Grange Academies Trust (Third Space Learning has been used across 18 primary and secondary schools in the trust)

How it works

Every lesson is designed by qualified teachers using an "I do, we do, you do" structure with formative assessment to identify misconceptions and provide tailored hints.

Skye has been specifically trained to adjust pitch and pace to individual learning needs, helping secure mathematical concepts while building confidence and enjoyment in maths.

Primary programmes align with intervention goals, from topic-specific support for Years 4-6 to SATs revision boosters for Year 6.

Secondary programmes focus on GCSE preparation through exam-style questions that scaffold learning before moving to independent practice, all tailored to help students meet their target grades.

Reducing workload while improving outcomes

Sessions starts with a short diagnostic assessment. Skye will skip to independent practice if the student is ready, or guide them through the full lesson if additional support is needed.

"The way Third Space Learning's online tutoring programmes are set up means the work is pitched at the right level for each child without the need for the teacher to be heavily involved. This massively cuts down on teacher workload! It's just as effective as bringing in private maths tutors but it's so much cheaper, so you can afford to have more children doing the online tuition."

Clare Sealy, Headteacher, St Matthias Primary School, London

As part of the Third Space Learning support, all schools who sign up for AI tutoring also receive access to hundreds of high quality maths resources specific created by maths teachers to link with the most common schemes of work and GCSE syllabus.

We are well known for the excellent human support we give teachers and leaders in school. We completely understand how busy you are and will contact you on the channels that work best for you. We also really listen to feedback.

“What I liked about Third Space Learning was the comprehensive scope of what was being offered. It felt like I was working with a company that wanted to listen to what we needed and who could be flexible in the support we wanted to put in place.”
Rob Davies, Deputy Headteacher, Kent

“The customer support is a real plus, right from the start, we could always get someone on the phone quickly. Now even more so as Third Space Learning are so receptive to hearing feedback about the AI tutoring.”

With Skye, you can support as many pupils as needed, with as many sessions as required, for one low fixed price, making it more affordable than ever to reach every pupil who needs additional one to one support.

This makes it hard to give a price per pupil or price per session.

Because Skye is unlimited, increasing the number of pupils who receive tutoring or the number of sessions each pupil has does not add to the cost of the AI tutor.

Here are some sample costs

One to one sessions per week

- 5 sessions – £8,100 with other providers → £3,500–£6,000 with Skye (40% saving)
