What is Reading Plus?
Reading Plus is an online reading programme that's packed full of engaging texts for pupils to explore and enjoy.
It teaches silent reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary with software that meets each pupil's individual reading level.
Reading Plus supports good teaching first. And provides ongoing help for every pupil – with actionable reports for teachers.
How does Reading Plus work?
Reading Plus begins with an adaptive assessment that pupils complete on their own and without any intervention from their teacher.
Weekly assignments are set with personalised instructions for pupils, these include visual skills development for eye-tracking, reading tasks for comprehension and fluency, and vocabulary tasks.
How is Reading Plus implemented in schools?
We know that deciding to adopt a reading intervention is a big step for any school.
The key to making it work? Experience tells us that the way to get the results you're looking for – and that we'd expect to achieve – is to initiate and sustain a culture of growth.
That's why, when you decide to adopt Reading Plus in your school, one of our Dedicated Reading Consultants and our UK Support Team will work alongside you, making sure that implementation is smooth and successful, every step of the way.
What results can you expect with Reading Plus?
Reading Plus is designed to accelerate reading growth for pupils at all reading proficiency tiers – and fast. After just 40 to 60 hours of using Reading Plus, your Emerging readers will make significant gains to close the achievement gap.
And your Expected and Exceeding pupils at age-related expectations? Within 40 to 60 hours of using Reading Plus, they'll improve their proficiency and increase their reading levels, gaining the ability to master higher volumes of complex text with confidence.

An extensive collection of reports
Our extensive reporting shows you the progress your pupils make through their use of the Reading Plus programme. We’ve also developed additional reports to further support you – and evidence the progress being made.
Lexile tracking reports
The Reading Plus Lexile Tracking Report is designed to evidence formative pupil progression in reading speed, comprehension, and vocabulary. And it identifies target pupils who require further support or intervention.
We send these reports on a termly basis covering years 3 to 6.
Skills tracking reports
Skills tracking reports identify children’s strengths and areas for development to help inform interventions. When children complete a reading selection on Reading Plus, they answer 10 questions to test their deeper understanding and comprehension anchor skills.
We have correlated these anchor skills to the content domain reference for KS2 to help provide an insight into pupils’ overall levels of performance.
We send these reports in preparation for Year 5 pupils progressing to Year 6 so that teachers can identify immediately where pupils require support to become secure in the skills areas that require development.
Teacher must create the account.
