What is LOQT?

LOQT is a software platform that blocks distracting apps on students' phones during school hours — no pouches, no lockers, no hardware of any kind. Schools set it up once and it runs automatically from that point forward, giving teachers their lessons back and giving students their focus back. Calls, texts, and medical apps remain fully active throughout, so students stay safe and contactable while distractions are removed. Parents can extend the same rules at home through the same platform, making LOQT the only solution that works across the full day rather than stopping at the school gate.

The problem LOQT solves is significant. Teenagers currently average nine hours of screen time per day against a recommended two. Research from the University of Birmingham (2026, Social Science & Medicine) found that school-only phone bans displace rather than reduce phone use, and that schools spend an average of 102 hours per week enforcing phone policies. Physical solutions such as pouches and lockers carry ongoing costs, create staff burden, and offer no continuity at home. LOQT removes all three of those limitations.

The platform is entirely software-based. There is no hardware to purchase, install, or maintain. Setup takes minutes. Schools access a web-based management dashboard; pupils and parents download the app from the App Store or Google Play. Rules are configured collaboratively, which reduces resistance and builds buy-in from students and families alike.

LOQT's approach is proven in practice. A four-week trial at Thornden School, a UK secondary school within the HISP Multi-Academy Trust, produced 7,007 hours of phone-free focus time across 59 active users, with 30.5% of that time generated at home rather than in school. This home engagement figure is the clearest evidence that LOQT changes behaviour beyond the classroom. Thornden's headteacher noted that the most encouraging finding from the trial was the reduction in phone use outside of school hours.

Training
Live Online
Documentation

School training is initally via an online thorough user guide. If issues persist we are more than happy to setup a call and go through the different phases via screenshare.

For the home setup, the loqt.app website has a comprehensive user guide for parents to follow. The UX is also set up to be simple and intuitive.

Home Learning
Parent Access

School must create the account.

Parents download the app and configure home schedules independently. During the Thornden School trial, 30.5% of all focus time occurred at home, demonstrating genuine adoption beyond school hours. Research from the University of Birmingham (2026, Social Science and Medicine) found that school-only phone bans displace rather than reduce phone use — LOQT extends the same rules into the home, addressing the full problem.
