What is Learning By Questions?

Learning by Questions (LbQ) is an online teaching and learning platform that helps schools improve pupil outcomes by embedding evidence-informed pedagogy into everyday lessons and providing teachers with real-time insight into pupil understanding. It identifies misconceptions instantly, enables responsive and inclusive teaching, and reduces unnecessary workload linked to marking and data analysis.

Used in over 1,500 UK schools and 280 trusts, LbQ combines retrieval practice, adaptive learning, formative assessment and diagnostic feedback within a single system.

Independent research, including studies with LEO Academy Trust and Inspiring Futures through Learning Trust led by Dr Fiona Aubrey-Smith, has highlighted LbQ’s impact on teaching practice, workload reduction, pupil progress and classroom responsiveness.

LbQ also contributed to the Department for Education’s EdTech Evidence Board pilot, helping to inform emerging standards for evidence quality in education technology.
