What is DESTY Island Emotional Resilience Programme?
At Education DESTY we care passionately about children's emotional health and wellbeing!
Our mission is to empower parents, carers and educators to support children to develop their self-confidence, social skills and emotional resilience with our training, tools and resources including our multi award-winning online DESTY Island Emotional Resilience Programme.
What is DESTY Island?
Created by Educational Psychologist & DESTY Founder Stephanie O'Malley DESTY Island is a safe, fun, interactive world where children learn about themselves, their feelings and how to manage BIG feelings.
Children visit DESTY Island online with their trained DESTY mentor is someone in their lives such as a parent, carer or educator. There they meet our wonderful character DESTY who acts as their island guide and friend. This is a one to one programme where child and mentor work together over an average of fourteen 30-40 minute guided sessions aimed at building children’s emotional resilience.
Who is the DESTY Mentor?
We know that having a positive role model for a child is vital to growing their confidence, self-esteem and resilience.
What is the Certified DESTY Mentor Training Programme?
This course consists of 12 hours of self-paced online training (avg. 1.5 hours per weeks over 8 weeks) coupled with two live online workshops, with your tutor, educational pyschologist and founder of DESTY - Stephanie Fitzgerald.
On completion DESTY Mentors will understand how to develop a secure, stable and committed relationship with a child while using the online DESTY Island Social and Emotional Wellbeing Programme as a tool to use at home or at school to help that to happen. As part of your training, you will learn how to listen and communicate more effectively with children and how to guide them through the DESTY Island programme where they will learn about themselves, their feelings and how to harness their feelings, especially when dealing with difficult life events.
How much does it cost and what is included?
The DESTY Island Emotional Resilience Programme is a subscritpion based model. This costs £499 per mentor, per year, with training included for the first year, as an added bonus. Once a mentor has completed their training, they receive a DESTY Wellbeing kit which includes 1x DESTY Teddy, 1x DESTY Feeling cards & 5x DESTY Island Workbooks.
Our DESTY Mentors have access to their online DESTY Island Programme, along with 5 bundle passes, which allow them to work with up to 5 children at once. They receive access to our DESTY Academy, which hosts a wide variety of short course and CPD webinars, such as 'Uprooting Intergenerational Trauma', 'Supporting children through grief' , 'Stress free return to school' and much more.
Our DESTY Mentors also have access to our resources hub, with new resources added all the time. Our favourites being the 'DESTY Feelings bingo', 'DESTY's Feeling cube' and 'DESTY's Friendship Recipe'. We have seasonal resources such as DESTY's summer pack, Halloween pack and Christmas pack.
