What is Amplio?
Amplio was founded on the idea that those who are most impacted by global poverty are impeded by illiteracy. Our founder envisioned a low-cost audio device to support literacy skills for people in developing countries. But local experts had another idea.
Amplio creates safe, proven, and reliable information and communications technology for development (ICT4D). We help bridge the knowledge gap in last-mile communities.
Our solution is the Amplio Talking Book: a rugged, battery-powered audio device designed for people with low or zero literacy skills. It delivers hours of targeted content in any language. Users select and play messages on demand. They can also record their feedback. A built-in speaker allows families and groups to listen and learn together. Plus, there's no cost to the end-user.
Amplio's technology collects usage data and user feedback. This means you can monitor message engagement, identify issues and trends, and continually update your content for greater impact.
In 2021, we launched a suite of self-service products to help our partners more easily and cost-effectively launch and run their programs. The Amplio Suite includes an audio content manager, an app to update Talking Books in the field, and an interactive dashboard.

In addition to the cost of Talking book devices, we charge a basic service fee. We want to ensure you have the skills and support to launch and run a successful program. After the first year, you will receive lifetime access to Amplio's suite of self-service products. This means that once you're up and running, you can use your Talking Books over and over again.
